OVERVIEW

Start time: 9:00 am (All Races will depart in 5 minute intervals.)

Start/Finish Location: Ball diamond directly behind the rear parking lot behind the Collingwood YMCA. This is south of the YMCA building.

Parking: Please try to carpool to reduce the number of cars. Parking is in the Curling Club parking lot towards the water tower. Maybe you can bike to the race!

Medals: Wooden medals for kids will be provided by Healthy Kids Community Challenge.

Water stations: There will be water available at the turn around for the 2K race, the turn around for the 5K and the turn around for the 10K. Bananas, Apples and healthy snacks will be available.

Course Marshals: There will be marshals to help guide you for the turns and to help you watch for traffic at road crossings. Normal traffic laws for the road crossings apply.

 Pre-registration: You can register online up until 9pm on Friday June 2nd.

Race day registration: You can show up and register between 7:45am and 8:45am on race day Saturday June 3rd.

 

Race briefing: will occur at 8:45 sharp for 1K and 2K and another briefing for 5K and 10K will be held at 9:15. All briefings are at the start/finish in the parking lot behind the Y.

Start times: The 1K and 2K events will start at 9am sharp. The 5K and 10K will start at 9:30 am to allow the children's races to clear the trails. 

Expo: After you finish check out the healthy living expo in the curling club! Visit exhibitors and find out about programs, products and services that can help you live a healthier life.

Timing: In the spirit of a fun run the event will not be chip timed. We definitely encourage GPS watches and there will be a clock at the finish line showing total elapse time.

Gear: Gps watches yes! We prefer you don't wear headphones for safety and because it's a social event! Strollers are totally cool! Bring the whole family right down to the youngest members!

1K KIDS RACE

Healthy active movement is a habit that is best started young! What is more fun than running or walking on our beautiful Collingwood Trails? We call it a Kids race but it's open to all ages! Come and run as a family and bring your friends!

COURSE

The 1K course starts and ends at the Collingwood YMCA parking lot. From there participants head across the parking lot, around the outdoor ice rink and along the path between the indoor hockey rink and ball diamonds. After a right turn at the trail participants run/walk towards Manning avenue on the rail trail until the turn-around point. Then return to the starting point.

2K KIDS RACE

For all the keen little runners, family and friends we have double the distance for double the fun! It's an equally scenic treed route using the same trail to a slightly longer turn around point.

COURSE

The 2K course is a simple out and back that starts and ends at the parking lot of the Collingwood YMCA. From there participants head across the parking lot, around the outdoor ice rink and along the path between the indoor hockey rink and ball diamonds. After a right turn at the trail participants run/walk and with the help of our volunteers, cross Manning avenue on the rail trail. Continuing towards Collins street participants will turn left onto the River Trail and continue until the 2K turn-around point. From there it's a simple matter of retracing steps back to the starting point.

5K FAMILY RACE

You might think only accomplished runners can participate in the 5K event but we're confident you have what it takes. You can race it as fast as you like, or walk it at whatever pace feels comfortable. No pressure and you will feel amazing afterwards!

COURSE

The 5K course out and back that starts and ends at the parking lot of the Collingwood YMCA. From there participants head across the parking lot, around the outdoor ice rink and along the path between the indoor hockey rink and ball diamonds. After a right turn at the trail participants run/walk and with the help of our volunteers, cross Manning avenue on the rail trail. Crossing Collins street participants will continue until the Hamilton Drain trail, turn right and follow it until the turn-around. From there it's a simple matter of retracing steps back to the starting point.

10K FAMILY RACE

The 10K run/walk is a great way to take in a few of the Collingwood Trails in one event. Tour the Rail Trail, Hamilton Drain and the River Trail that crosses the Pretty River. You should be comfortable at a minimum walking 10K non-stop.

COURSE

The 10K course also starts and ends at the parking lot of the Collingwood YMCA. From there participants head across the parking lot, around the outdoor ice rink and along the path between the indoor hockey rink and ball diamonds. After a right turn at the trail participants run/walk, crossing Manning avenue on the rail trail. At the Hamilton Drain trail it's a right turn and that trail is followed to a turnaround at Hurontario St. Retracing steps on Hamilton Drain trail it's a left turn upon returning to the Rail Trail. Following the Rail Trail participants will turn right onto the River Trail and follow it crossing Raglan St. and staying on the trail until the turn-around near the glass plant at Highway 26. After turning around, the river trail is followed back to the rail trail where it's a right turn for home! Follow the Rail Trail to the left turn towards the Y at the hockey arena and retrace steps back to the starting point.
